TRICERA energy and Stadtwerke Karlsruhe sign contract for the construction of a battery storage system

TRICERA energy, the general contractor (EPC) and system integrator for large-scale battery storage systems, and Stadtwerke Karlsruhe, the regional energy and drinking water supplier in the Karlsruhe region, have signed a contract for the construction of a modern and powerful large-scale battery storage facility.

TRICERA will act as EPC for the planning, manufacture, delivery, construction and commissioning of the turnkey, functional large-scale battery storage facility. The facility with a usable capacity of 24 MWh and an output of 12 MW will be used for primary and secondary control power and will also participate in energy trading.

“The energy transition will succeed – we at Stadtwerke Karlsruhe are deeply convinced of this. The battery storage system will make a very important contribution here on site. By building the battery storage facility in Karlsruhe, we are showing citizens that we take sustainability and the energy transition seriously and are actively implementing them. I am looking forward to the realization of the project,” says Michael Homann, Chairman of the Management Board of Stadtwerke Karlsruhe.

The storage system is another building block for a stable energy supply in the region in an increasingly sustainable energy system. With its ability to quickly store and quickly release electricity, the large-scale battery storage system helps to keep the power grid stable and at the same time make sensible use of more electricity from the sun and wind.
