Utility: Large-scale battery storage systems

Customized solutions for your project

A single system with many possibilities – be it frequency control, energy trading, peak load capping, or off-grid operation. Our storage units can be coupled with wind and PV systems or used as stand-alone systems. Are you planning projects in the multi-megawatt range with an operating life of up to 20 years? Do you want to be flexible in terms of the cycles you run? Then we have the right storage solution for you.

Storage-as-a-Service

Reserve fixed capacity

Batteries lose capacity over time. This means more capacity is often installed than is strictly necessary, which is expensive.

Our Storage-as-a-Service (SaaS) system offers an alternative. We can maintain the energy capacity of your battery storage system at the necessary level by regularly replacing or adding more battery modules.

The benefits to you
  • With SaaS you get the exact capacity you need – keeping the investment costs as low as possible.
  • The capacity of your battery storage system remains constant over its entire lifetime, which maximises your income streams.
  • You can adapt your battery storage system to a different use case at any time.

An example:

You need 10 MWh of energy capacity for 20 years. To ensure that your storage system can supply this to the end despite decreasing capacity, 20 MWh would typically be installed instead of 10 MWh, which is significantly more expensive. Under our SaaS scheme we would only install 11 MWh. We would then continuously refresh this to ensure that you always have the necessary capacity.

Analysis & Simulation

Is it worth investing in a battery storage project? We will help you make the right decision. Our simulation tools can check the technical and economic feasibility of your planned project to give you clarity and planning security.

  • Whether it is frequency control or energy trading: We do the math for potential applications.
  • Our simulation model integrates the properties of different battery types.
  • We perform electrical grid simulations to analyse the upstream electricity grid.
  • We provide you with all relevant data for your performance assessment.
  • We will show you which system best meets your needs — technically and economically.

Safety at every level

Our battery storage systems are designed to prevent errors from the outset. The mechanical and electrical design takes account of all the components necessary for safe operation. A cooling system ensures that the batteries operate in the optimum temperature range to guarantee a long service life.

Our software monitors every installed cell around the clock. An intelligent battery cluster controller recognises irregularities and risks at an early stage and passes all relevant information to the monitoring team in real time.
