First joint venture battery storage system connected to the grid in Schneeberg

Dresden, April 18, 2024

The Israeli independent power producer (IPP) Solegreen Ltd. and the German battery storage specialist TRICERA energy have put their first joint battery storage system into operation in Schneeberg. The grid-serving storage system with an installed capacity of 3.2 MWh and an output of 2.5 MW participates in the balancing power market and energy trading and is available to Stadtwerke Schneeberg to cushion peak loads in the grid area.

TRICERA integrated the automotive batteries provided as part of an innovative rental concept into the existing systems and set up the infrastructure around the storage system, consisting of power electronics, software architecture and grid connection.

Subsequently, TRICERA also took over regular maintenance, repair, monitoring and data evaluation as part of an operation & maintenance contract.

A battery storage system of this size can efficiently support a municipality in its power supply.
