Revenue per megawatt at a preliminary peak

Enervis Battery Storage Index Shows: Revenues per Megawatt Have Reached a Preliminary Peak

For nearly two years, the management consulting firm enervis energy advisors GmbH has been analyzing revenue potential for battery storage systems in its Battery Storage Index, based on historical market data.

The latest figures show that revenues have reached a preliminary peak. Never before have battery storage systems generated as much revenue as in May, at around €19,100 per megawatt.

The index takes into account participation in both the intraday market and the balancing power markets, and shows the achievable revenues for each of the last 13 months. Enervis’ forecasts for achievable revenues for the full year 2025 currently stand at €147,800 per megawatt per year.

In our view, this is further evidence that the much-cited “battery tsunami” cannot be stopped and that KPIs such as revenue figures have overcome skepticism. The focus remains on securing ideal project sites. The more I can install in one location, the more profitable the project becomes due to economies of scale.

We are happy to provide full support as an EPC contractor, from project development through to system integration. The fact remains that the energy transition can only succeed with battery storage.

TRICERA’s opinion:

A great signal to the market. This trend will continue, driving average annual revenue to a new high. Electricity from renewable energy sources is and will remain the most cost-effective form of energy generation. Consistently storing this electricity for periods of low sunlight and wind is essential to ensuring the success of the energy transition.
