Ralf, Head of Finance

Why did you choose TRICERA and what daily challenges do you face?

The industry! For me, an internal fire was immediately lit when I got involved in the industry. On the one hand, I can make a small contribution to the energy transition. On the other hand, I find the technical complexity of battery storage very interesting. I’m also excited about building up the finance department in line with the company’s growth and continuing to professionalize the team.

It is challenging to strike a balance between the day-to-day issues that have a short-term impact and those that are important for the long-term stability of the company and its finances.

What motivates you to work here?

The togetherness and the WE feeling! I’ve felt the TRICERA feeling since I started in March 2024. What we do here is a good thing – it has an impact. We are convinced of our product. This is evident across all departments.

What do you think of the team / the environment?

Our spirit is very positive, which motivates me to give my best in my daily work. Of course, we still have structures that need to be changed from time to time in order to develop further. Change is an opportunity to create something new. That’s what drives me.

What fascinates you about battery storage systems and where do you see development in this area?

I am fascinated by the technical complexity from planning to installation and commissioning on site. Sophia already mentioned this in her interview: from the outside, it’s hard to believe how technically complex the inner workings of a battery storage system are.

Due to the current price trend, there are new development opportunities to not only purchase batteries in Europe, but also to secure price advantages with a high quality factor on the Asian continent.

What are the strategic challenges in the still relatively young battery storage systems sector?

We are currently in a cycle of market displacement and positioning in Germany and Europe. Against this backdrop, we are developing our products to the highest standard and for high customer satisfaction and will also continue to roll out our BESS with higher market shares in the coming years.

How do you see yourself? Why do you like the area of Finance & Controlling so much?

Answering this question is not as easy as it seems!

I am mainly at home in the areas of finance and corporate planning, but always with an eye on the big picture. I am also interested in recognizing the success factors as early as possible and, more precisely, in looking at the relevant risks. It’s not just about the pure financial world, which is ultimately where it all comes down to – processes and organizational structures as well as contractual considerations, among other things, are very important so that I can make decisions with a holistic view. I find this holistic view very positive, so that not only the number-driven aspects are taken into account when making decisions, but also issues that are not directly monetary in nature.

Ultimately, in an SME like ours, it is very important to work together in order to have a direct and fast exchange – both professionally and personally. I really enjoy working closely with my colleagues on a daily basis to move topics forward.

To conclude: Who are you nominating for the next interview and why?

I nominate Assem. We work closely together on a day-to-day basis in the area of financial coordination in technical purchasing. I find his in-depth knowledge of the technical BESS components fascinating, so I would like to learn more about his expertise and the technical development of our products. At the same time, I really appreciate him personally and he is always up for a good chat over coffee.
